Gerard Van Den Berg is known for his radical reinterpretation of the traditional Dutch design heritage.
In 1974, van den Berg co-founded Montis with his brother.
His design was inspired by but also managed to Challenge the Classic forms.
His signature style is to manipulate traditional leather upholstery into unexpected forms, creating a tension between the material and the design. He invented the "Jacket" upholstery that is now considered an iconic and revolutionary design approach. This piece has an attribution mark,
