This set of twelve (12) authentic antique chromolithographs (each color laid in with a separate lithographic stone; these are not offset lithographs) depicts many types of minerals in their natural form, all identified in English. Each print is numbered. Touches of original vibrant metallic inks add a bit of sparkle to the set. Although printed in 1911 , the outstanding saturated colors are bright and true! Printed on one side only. These are among the most beautiful mineral prints we have seen! Great for a large wall treatment or several smaller groupings. Dimensions: 5.25" x 8". If you want a larger set we are also listing several more sets of (we acquired the entire collection of 40 lithographs, all different).
We just acquired another 40 lithographs from a slightly newer edition of this series. The later edition images were printed in offset lithography, a photomechanical process. They are significantly less expensive primarily due to the fact that they are not as rare as the chromolithograph images. The offset lithographs are much more efficient in cost and production time (that is why offset lithography replaced chromolithography as a primary color printing method.The images are the same but are not as crisp as the chromolithographs. If you are interested in a lower cost alternative set of 12 please inquire.
