This early Elm Chinese Apothecary Chest has 19 labeled working drawers, each indicating different herbs or medicinal substances. The back and interior are lined in Chinese Paper and the doors use Traditional Prosperity and Abundance Good Luck Chinese Fish Locks. Each of these labeled drawers holds a different type of medicinal herb commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine practices.
Unique find--we love the idea of using as a small side table alongside a sofa or chair as it makes for an interesting conversation piece as well as a functional piece of history.
