This Henri Matisse " Paintings and Drawings " very rare vintage 1939 first edition fine art lithograph print collector's French Modern Art hardcover book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover art book with natural linen covered boards, embossed cover titles, and dust jacket is published by Braun & CIE - Paris, Tudor Publishing Co. New York. The Masters of Colors A Series Published Under the Direction of George Besson. Engraved and printed by The Establishments Braun & CIE at Mulhouse-Dornach, Haut-Rhin, France printed in 1939.
It features a monograph survey collection of the artworks of Henri Matisse, with accompanied critical survey text essay authored by Jean Assou assistant curator of The Musee Du Luxembourg.
Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) the French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. Artworks by Matisse are included in the collection of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
