This entire luxurious large-format, 11.5"x 15.25"x 1.75", volume showcases one project: the home of London based antiques dealer and interior designer, Rose Uniacke. Originally built in 1860 on Warwick Square in Pimlico as the home and studio of Scottish society portraitist, James Rannie Swinton, the house in subsequent years had gone through many transformations and had fallen into neglect and abandonment in recent times, until it was rescued and completely restored by her with collaborators, architect Vincent Van Duysen and landscape architect, Tom Stuart-Smith. The entire long painstaking restoration process and the resulting work is the wellspring of her signature aesthetic. The past and the present are in dialogue; the historic architecture and the passage of time are respected and embraced; some elements are left as untouched as possible, like the reclaimed 18th and 19th century wooden floor boards, while others such as the intricate plaster-work of cornices, moldings, door-frames and arches have been meticulously restored; fine antiques are mixed with vintage finds, modernist pieces and contemporary art --and all is in dialogue. Balanced, harmonious, simple, elegant, luxurious and serene.

The book presents the realized work in gatefold after gatefold of beautiful photographs by Francois Halard with running commentary by Rose Uniacke as to the thinking and intentions behind the design. less
