Label to verso with pencil inscription, second label in French, translates to: "GEIRNAERT (Jozef), peintre d'histoire, de portraits et d'intérieurs, né le 27 août 1791 à Eecloo, mort le 20 mars 1859 (Ec. Bel.).
Elève d'Herreyns et Paelinck. Le Musée de Gand conserve de lui un tableau.
