beautiful finely watercolored engraving from the mid-19th century, depicting a german view of the rhine, in a beautiful golden frame with elegant teal passepartout.
engraver: robert brandard, engraver and landscape painter born birmingham in 1805, died in london in 1862. Son of thomas brandard, also an engraver and printer on copper, he was a pupil of edward goodal in london in 1824. He made a name for himself especially for his engravings of views and landscapes, but he also exhibited some paintings at the british institution.
