These stools were used frequently in machine shops or at tool benches. The legs are SECURELY attached—with little to no movement. I have taken pictures at every angle, top to bottom—in hopes that you can see the overall “personality” of this piece. :) less

This willowy beauty is a sight to behold—its lines are long and lean! The hand-turned legs are decorated with 1” cubes and rings design, while the seat is cut in an octagonal pattern. Made in the 1860’s, this Bambi-legged stool has survived over 160 years—and is still sturdy enough to sit on! It has such a simple design, but can hold a 180lb person (I was nervous to add more weight!).
This stool’s durability must come from the clever way the legs are angled into the seat—since there are no other means to support these slender legs! Quite ingenious, really…
The seat itself, is 2 inches thick — which is probably what truly stabilizes the stool. The seat measures 11.25 inches diagonally, while its width is 10.5”.
Note about “working” stools:
My great grandfather was a tall man, who worked at a lathe, machining tool handles and he would “lean into” his stool, with his legs spread wide—almost like his stool was another appendage of his body. These stools were a staple in American history!
Its weight is 4.9lbs. less
