PROVENANCE
According to the current owner this Jongkind painting was purchased in the early 20th century through a buyer for the Marshall Field and Company department store art gallery in Paris and shipped to Chicago, Illinois.

Attributed Johann-Barthold (Johan-Barthold) Jongkind (Dutch, 1918-91) | Active: France. Canvas: Paul Contet (Paris, France, 1886-?). Contet was a colorman, framer, dealer, who took over Madame Latouche’s shop after the death of her husband, Louis Latouche (1829-84).
