This Really is a Very Nice Example of a Authentic Antique American Primitive Blue Decorated Stoneware Storage Jar - Crock. Circa Approx 1870s. It is Embossed with a the Fraction 1 1/2 Confirming its Unusual Incremental 6 Quart or 1.5 Gallon Storage Capacity. It is ALSO Embossed - Signed by the Maker E & L P NORTON BENNINGTON VERMONT. It has a Classic American Sandy Color Salt Glazed Exterior. It is Rendered in a Slightly Tapered Form with a Bolstered top Rim with the Added Feature of Applied Handles - "Ears". The Front of the Jar is Artistically Hand Decorated with a Cobalt - Navy Blue Stylized Flower. The Interior is Done in a Uniform Coffee Brown Color. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made - Intended For Everyday Utilitarian Use. These Types of American Stoneware Items we Completely Hand Made out of Indigenous Clay on a Potters Wheel from Start to Finish and Therefore No 2 are Absolutely Identical.
