Description: This is a vintage garden armillary sphere with a verdigris finish applied to the base metal that is set upon … more This is a vintage garden armillary sphere with a verdigris finish applied to the base metal that is set upon a fish. It is a large piece – almost sculptural. In fact, it was designed by a Swedish sculptor, Sune Rooth. It is estimated to be 75-85 years old. Although it has rust and signs of outdoor use, it is currently mounted on a wood base for indoor use. It would be fun to remount it for use in the garden and try to tell time as the shadow of the sun passes over it. Numerals on the ecliptical line run from 4 to 12 and back to 8.
