The Aladdin Alacite glass lamps in green and ivory. The center with a lotus flower in ivory on a green leaf topped column. There is a gilt metal base and wiring.
These rarely become available particularly as a pair- a rare find.
Condition is very good, no chips to the glass or cracks, a few small creases from the making.
The finial and light-colored body of the lamps fluoresce slightly.
Base of the lamp carries the Aladdin mark with these vases made 1938-42.
Rare find.
Shade not included.
Dimensions: 32 inches to top of the original finial. 17 1/4 inches to top of the neck x 5 5/8 inches at base.
Mark: impressed Aladdin on foot.
Reference:
Alacite glass was the creation of Henry Hellmers and in his words was described as, "an ivory opal glass." It was described in Aladdin advertising material as, "A startlingly beautiful lamp base, and pedestal material, which resembles many of the semiprecious mineralites in texture, and has much of the softness and tone of tusk (genuine ivory)-the only color in which it is available."
