Made and signed by Edouard Lanteri ( 1848 - 1917)
This sculpture is heavily influenced by British Olympian artists, such as Frederic Leighton and Laurence Alma Tadema.
Lanteri was born in France, Lanteri worked principally in England, where he was friends with the celebrated sculptor Jules Dalou and an instructor at the South Kensington Art Schools.
Lanteri published several books to teach artists how to master the human figure.
Condition: Very welll but is has three minor imperfections at the rim. The statue is very huge and it is very difficult in that period to produce a statue of this size. The sculpture has some kiln flaws which can be considered as normal for a sculpure off this size
