Originally known as the model B3 chair, this monumental piece of Mid Century Design was first conceived at the Bauhaus by Breuer in 1926 and has since been produced by many different manufacturing companies. Gavina, Thonet and Knoll being among the most prominent. Gavina later gave the B3 chair the name 'Wassily' after learning of a Bauhaus anecdote about Wassily Kandinsky, a fellow Bauhaus member, expressing early interest in the prototype. Because of this, Breuer later gifted a chair to Kandinsky for his Bauhaus office, forever cementing the interaction into Bauhaus/Breuer lore.

This example was produced by Knoll in 1990 and is in really great vintage condition with no pitting to the chrome frame and only some very minor wear to the leather seat. Overall, it shows beautifully and is ready to be placed as functional art in a special place. less
