fabulous sanguine from 1805 invented and engraved by francesco bartolozzi in its original round gold leaf frame
etching and dotted manner printed on laid paper with blood-coloured ink
engraver: francesco bartolozzi, born in florence in 1727, died in lisbon in 1815, among the most famous and appreciated italian engravers, he successfully interpreted the various engraving methods: etching, burin, dotted manner. Pupil of wagner in venice, he moved then to london where he found international success and became the owner of his own shop.
