It originally came from … more This is a matted vintage haute couture fashion print by Jacques Fath that dates to 1951. It originally came from a haute couture French fashion magazine that dates to 1951. It is NOT a recent reproduction print. The image features a long fringed floor-length scarf over an embroidered evening dress. The black and white image showcases the design in a setting with an escort in formal wear. Note the high horizon line. This is a characteristic stylized graphic element typical of Rene Gruau. Gruau was a creative genius well known for his fashion drawings with bold use of color and graphic details. The creative friendship between Christian Dior and the illustrator Rene Gruau was a collaboration which celebrated a special spirit which continued for many years, even after Dior’s death in 1957. The image is 9.25 x 12 inches in size. Excellent clean condition. Will come matted in a white 16 x 20 inch mat ready for a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting.
