This one with an off set fish complete with bubbles and a scalloped silver band on top edge. The now iconic argenta stoneware collection, with its green glaze and silver decoration, is one of Wilhelm Kåge's most recognizable designs. Designed in the late 1920s, it was first shown at the Stockholm exhibition in 1930 and was subsequently produced by Gustavsberg, where the designer was artistic director in the 1930s and 1940s. The name Argenta comes from the Latin Argentum and indicates the silver painting used to bring the mottled ceramic pieces to life. Though from the deco period, these pieces became popular throughout the mid century period. This piece is in good condition. Signed under base. less
