Dutch photographer Gijsbert Hanekroot (Brussels, 1945) began his career in 1969 and worked for magazines and newspapers in the 1970s. His career as a photojournalist fit perfectly into the explosion of the rock scene and he masterfully documented this golden age of music history - and photographed many of the era's greatest icons.
Gijsbert worked to capture footage that revealed the man behind the musician. Trying to express a deeper truth about his subjects resulted in portraits that were natural and intimate, relaxed and sincere.
