Opulent canape sofa or cabriole sofa made in the neoclassical Gustavian taste. The sofa features a long gracefully curved back. The beech frame is intentionally aged with a weathered patina on the painted finish having parcel gilt accents. The sofa is supported by Louis XVI style tapered legs having a rosette on the top and ending with spade feet. The frame is upholstered with a plush leather and the generous seat has a deep fitted loose seat cushion with patinated brass tack borders. The back of the frame is upholstered with a checkered pattern fabric. The frame is unmarked but made in the romantic California style of Dennis and Leen, Rose Tarlow, or Gregorius Pineo. Very sturdy and strong with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. From an estate in Beverly Hills, CA.
