The chairs are composed of pairs of … Read more This is an extraordinary pair of Indian Throne or elaborate antique Ceremonial Chairs. The chairs are composed of pairs of fully carved lions supporting the wide seats whose backs incorporate carved peacocks surmounted by crowns. The scrolling lion tails and the lion heads form the arm rests. At one point, the chairs were painted in bright colors which have now degraded, forming a wonderful deep natural patina. The chairs retain all of their original elements, but they have had some older restorations. The chairs are very sturdy and ready for another 100+ years. (We have cushions for the chairs which we are including as a courtesy and which can be reupholstered in the buyer's fabric) See less
