A well executed and vividly coloured mid century modernist still composition, painted in oil onto board.
Reminiscent of the Modern British artist Mary Fedden (1915-2012), this painting also features a playful delight in the particularities of everyday objects, from stripes and checkers, to flattened perspective as well as bold use of colour. It elevates the beauty and particularity of everyday objects including lemons and flowers, and imbues them with significance and character.
