A striking mid century modernist riverside scene, painted in oil on to canvas.

Featuring a monochrome palette, the artist contrasts the silhouette of the woods and the riverbank against the white of the moonlit water. Two figures in a small boat can be seen, surrounded by a calm and serene atmosphere. The round white moon sits prominently in the picture, capturing our initial attention. Our eyes then wander to the more intricate details of the grassy wooded bank, as well as to the leafless branches of the trees. The play on light and shadow in this picture makes it very striking, and creates a wonderful sense of depth.
