Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Moser studied at Auburn University, Baylor University, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, as well as University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is primarily known for his wood engravings and book illustrations, for which he received a National Book Award for design and illustration. Moser teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design and was a Professor in Residence and Printer at Smith College. His works have been exhibited at the Library of Congress, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the British Museum. He is also the owner of Pennyroyal Press, a small book publisher.
