Vintage; C.1969, Mid-Century Danish Signed Hans J. Wegner,(Design) for Johannes Hansen(Mfr.) is this, oak wood-carved Butler/Valet with a lidded storage area, with linear teak details to seat back rest for gentleman's personal pieces, such as tie bars/cuff links, a shoe horn, or watches, and the likes with which men kept in such things. This is a 3-legged Butler/Valet with a seat and hidden storage. Butler/Valet's were made popular during the Later 19th and into the 20th and early part of the 21st century, from Victorian, to English Traditional, Georgian , Into the American classical period, Art Nouveaux and into the Art Deco period, while entering into the Hollywood Regency period and into the Mid-Century and Post Modern, amongst whereupon this piece lies, the Danish/Scandinavian period of Furniture Design as this piece is. It was hand-carved, with wishbone elements throughout from the suit jacket/shirt rest, into and into the side protruding armature along the back end of the seat, while also the seat hinged in brass hardware, and ability to lift up and down as well as to sit upon. The quality of the material, design and the craftsmanship notwithstanding illuminates all this, as well as having a sculptural quality of art to this functional piece of furniture. Today many have come back, in a cyclical mode, to re-invigorate and allocate, why obtaining these type of pieces for themselves within the bedroom, mend Boudoir, entry, bathroom, spa, and the like, etc. It is signed underneath, and was purchased by my clients, as all their Wegner pieces straight form Denmark, and a Official procurer of Wegner pieces within a worldwide web portal with an eclectic, collectible high end of forum and distinction.
