This handmade sculpture by Pablita Ta-Nez-Bah Abeyta reflects her deep connection to Navajo heritage and her talent for creating minimalist yet expressive works. Crafted from earthy red clay, the tall, slender figure features a rounded head and a flowing garment, with a dotted scarf adding a whimsical touch. Organic cracks and indentations enhance its handmade quality. The daughter of Navajo artist Narciso Abeyta, Pablita's work blends cultural themes with a modern aesthetic, emphasizing simplicity, beauty, and respect for nature. Her Navajo name, Ta-Nez-Bah, meaning "One Who Completes a Circle," is echoed in her smooth, rounded sculptures, often depicting women from her culture. These figures honor the strength, beauty, and serenity of Navajo women, who served as her inspiration. Abeyta's works are celebrated in Native American and contemporary art and are known for their quiet dignity and timeless presence. Sculpture is signed on the back.
