A fabulous early pair of Japanese Cloisonné lamps which were made from vases sometime in the 1st quarter of the 20th century.
Possibly Chinese.
What we love is the two sided decoration on the black and brass inlaid ground of the vases.. The front has large flowers, birds and greenery. The reverse side shows off roses and greenery.
The bottom and top of each lamp has intricate Cloisonné designs that showcase the workmanship put into the design and creation.
The mix of colors on a black ground really show off the details.

The lamps have heavy brass caps and sockets. When the lamps were wired in the 1940's, the wires were Brough through the caps so as to not have to drill into the vase bodies.
In excellent vintage condition with no dents or cracks. Minor surface wear.
The lamps appear to be filled with sand which makes them very weighty. The purpose of the sand is to make the lamps heavy enough to remain standing and functional in a household setting. The bottoms are felt lined to protect your furniture.
