A whimsical interpretation of the iconic Jefferson Memorial in cherry-blossom time painted on a pear-shaped wooden form by French artist Jacques Halbert.
The monument appears in a small collaged photo across the water from the blossoming trees.
Halbert’s work is in the Centre Des Arts Plastiques and the Centre Pompidou in Paris where he is also known as a performance artist. He has lived in the USA where he participated in Fluxus events and owned the Art Café in the East Village in the 1980’s and the Magnifik Gallery in Williamsburg in the 1990’s. He has lived and worked in France for the past 23 years. less
