I found this little train at a thrift store about an hour west of Nashville; it seems like it was made with materials from around the farm, and on the bottom reads “by John Hart in the 1940s.” While it may work best as folk art today, it was made to be a toy as the wheels are fully functional and it was clearly played with quite a bit over the years. I lightly cleaned the train of any dust, and what remains is more of a patina showing the age and use of the train. There is something about this piece seems to make everyone smile when they see it; I also love how the colors are reminiscent of a yellow Crayola crayon!
