Extremely rare modernist table lamp designed by aldo van den nieuwelaar and manufactured by nila lights, tilburg in the netherlands in 1968. The lamp is made of a white plastic square structure with a acrylic glass diffuser that can spread light all around or, on the back, it just focuses on the corners for a cool 3d effect. This lamp is one of the few original productions of the ming lamp from 1968, not the 2008 boops reedition, which is quite different. The boops version has a switch on the side. The boops reedition only had about 20 made, and the original nila 1968 production had even fewer. That makes this lamp a true collector's item. Marked with the original nila sticker on the bottom/side. Born in 1944, aldo van den nieuwelaar is a dutch designer and architect. He founded his own studio in 1969 and spent his career designing furniture, light fixtures, light sculptures, and architecture. His work is known for its simplicity and clarity of form van den nieuwelaar's iconic work is in his sculptural fluorescent lighting which often featured curved steel tubes in white and chrome and geometric fluorescent tubes. One example is the tc6, a square box with a circular fluorescent tube. In 1973 van den nieuwelaar collaborated with pastoe to create a series of narrow cabinets with shutter doors. His award-winning designs are exhibited in museums throughout the netherlands as well as the museum of modern art in new york city. This piece has an attribution mark,
