Rare large sconces model 256 designed by Ico Parisi and manufactured by Arteluce in Italy in 1964. These elegant lamps have the original frosted glass shades inside, giving a lovely diffused light. The metal structure is not only beautifully made but also sturdy, with a nice bent design. The glass globe hangs gracefully in the black finished supported metal ring. Marked with Arteluce sticker at the back of the fixture. Priced and sold in a set of 2, 2 sets available. Literature; Arteluce catalogue from 1964, page 15 This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the USA. Born in Palermo in 1916, Domenico Parisi, known as Ico, grew into a prominent figure in Italian design. After moving to Como in 1925, he honed his skills at Studio Terragni, interacting with architectural luminaries. Discharged from the front in 1943, he resumed design work in Como. In 1947, he and Luisa Aiani opened La Ruota studio, a hub for design and art. Parisi's career flourished from the 1950s, collaborating with companies like Cassina. In the late 1960s, he explored new design realms with Contenitoriumani. His pinnacle came with "Operazione Arcevia" (1974-76), envisioning a utopian community. His graphic research followed, leaving an indelible mark on Italian design until his passing in 1996. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
