Rare large wall lamp model 257 designed by sergio asti and manufactured by arteluce in italy in 1966. Under the watchful eye of gino sarfatti, this lamp was brought to life. You can definitely see his influence in the design. The lamp has four arms, painted in a dark grey that's almost black, all held together by a metal circle plate. The frosted glass globes are attached to a dome-shaped metal circle that matches the shape of the globes. When you turn on the light, it gives off this really cool diffused glow. The lamp is in great condition, considering its age, with just a bit of wear from use over the years. You'll spot the arteluce sticker on the wall plate, marking its authenticity. You can find it in the arteluce catalogue under model number 257. This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the usa. After graduating in architecture at the politecnico di milano, sergio asti opened his studio in 1953, qualifying as one of the first italian industrial designers and one of the founding members of adi (association for industrial design). Many of the objects he designed are now part of the collections of prestigious design museums around the world. For fontanaarte he designed daruma, a blown glass table lamp, in the catalogue since 1968. From the very beginning he has also been very active in the design of public and private buildings, interiors and fittings, including: the fiat showroom (milan, 1964), the fisi presidency offices (milan, 1976), the fittings for numerous temporary exhibitions at the triennale, la rinascente and eurodomus. He taught at the istituto superiore d'arte in venice and at the istituto sperimentale superiore in shizuoka, japan. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
