Beautiful pair of s28 chairs deigned by pierre chapo and made it his own atelier in france in 1972. When chapo saw the traditional “aslation chair he was inspired and decided to modernize it . In 1972 he designed the s28 chair which is a design that keeps the basic characteristics of the “alsatian chair” but at the same time removing it of its decorative elements. The back is made of one single piece of elm wood and the seat is in solid flat elm. The four legs point slightly outwards. Each piece of wood was shaped with care and precision. The s28 is a modern chair that maintains the silhouette and comfort of the traditional “alsatian chair.’ the chairs are in very good original condition and hand signed chapo 1975, making these chairs and this set a super early version; the table, benches and stools you see on the images came from the same house and are not included in this listing but can be purchased here/here/here. Kindly note that the listed price is for 1 chair. Literature; pierre chapo a modern craftsman magen h gallery 2017, page 204 the work of chapo combines ancient woodworking skill and tradition with a contemporary approach. In designing his distinguished pieces, solid oak, elm, teak and ash were mainly used. After graduating from the parisian école nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in architectural studies, he travelled through scandinavia, central america and the united states. After returning to the french capital, he opened his own gallery in 1958 on boulevard de l’hôpital 14, where among other artists mainly his and isamu noguchi’s creations were on display. In 1960, he received a gold medal from the city of paris as a token of appreciation for his contributions to the city. Pierre chapo is for sure one of the best designers from french soil, clearly to be seen at his architectural designs and craftsmanship. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations
- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.
- The item will be delivered to your home and placed in the desired room. The delivery service includes unpacking, inspecting, and removing packaging materials; and does not include installation or setting up the item.

- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
