Signed lower right, "Loraine Balsillie" (American, 1919-2006) and painted circa 1980.

Loraine Balsillie first studied painting with Leo Fairbanks and went on to study under a number of northwest painters. Extended travel in Australia subsequently brightened her palette. Over a long career, Balsillie enjoyed commercial success and her work is held in public and private collections across the United States. She exhibited widely throughout the northwest and in Hawaii, and was the recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards.
