This stunning, wonderfully detailed, mid-century American desk was designed by John van Koert for Drexel's "Counterpoint" line in 1956. According to Drexel the collection was inspired by a musical variation in which each piece could flow into the other and harmonize with furniture outside of the Counterpoint collection. This was due to the blending of beautifully grained cherry and ripe mahogany and its streamlined silhouette. In addition to the desk's fashionable appearance from all sides, it is also extremely functional featuring four drawers with recessed pulls for ample storage and a 6" side ledge that extends out to 22" so you can expand your work space as needed. Drexel's Counterpoint line was only manufactured from 1956-1958 making this desk exceptional.
Drexel's maker's mark remains intact inside one of the drawers. The chair clearance is 23.5" w x 24" ht. less
