Most Likely Made in Lancaster County, PA circa 1830-1850's
A superb small sized single door and 2 drawer cupboard. Made of Pine, and Poplar woods. The case is dovetailed together, with hand dovetailed drawer joinery. The top board has a nice deep overhand to cover the chair rail or baseboard moulding. Single door, is mortised constructed, with a poplar door panel, and pine stiles. Nice tall Sheraton turned legs, and cove moulded cornice moulding.
This piece is a rare find, in this size/shape. The piece has been refinished, but is in its original form. it was never cut down, or a part of something else. It was very clearly purpose built, but a skilled hand.
The 2 drawers have a lock, as well as the door. We have a key for the drawers, but no key for the door.
Size: 38" wide, 22" deep, 40 3/4" tall.
Condition: Refinished, The piece was probably originally painted. Traces of red wash paint are still present in the nail holes, and wood grain. Some finish loss on the top, and scratches from age/use. Use and wear marks are consistent with age. See pictures, more pictures are available. less
