Made of brass, the vase features a distinctive squared and conical shape, resting on a circular base. The design is enhanced by three vertical flutes on each side, adding subtle detail to its clean lines. Handcrafted in ystad, sweden, it bears the engraved markings "ystad-metall" and "made in sweden" on the underside, confirming its authenticity. This vase is a fine representation of the craftsmanship and aesthetic principles of its time. About gunnar ander gunnar ander (1908–1976) was a swedish designer known for his artistic talent and significant contributions to scandinavian design. Born in lidköping, ander showed early promise, illustrating for a local newspaper as a teenager before studying at the royal academy of fine arts in stockholm. In the late 1940s or early 1950s, he joined ystad-metall, where he created some of the company’s most iconic designs, particularly his brass candle holders, which remain highly sought after today. Ander also worked for lindshammar glassworks and was a key designer at scandia present ab. Throughout his career, he crafted a wide range of functional and decorative objects in brass, glass, wrought iron, and silver plate, leaving a lasting legacy in swedish design. less
