It was … Read more "Aspens" is an abstract expressionist oil painting on canvas, inspired by the beautiful autumn colors of aspen trees. It was further inspired by a recent exhibition of Joan Mitchell's large abstracts and her use of color. With free and loose brushstrokes, I feel like I captured the transcendent blend of sunlight, as it suffuses the imaginary landscape. It's meant to evoke a sense of hope and renewal, infusing any space with a gentle, uplifting aura.
The palette consists of different hues and tones of yellow, from pale yellow to rich golden amber, white, pale violet and a hint of orange, celadon green, black and white.
