The base … more Here is a wonderful vintage scale made from Alabaster marble, brass and gold metal from the early mid-century. The base of the scales is carved from alabaster. The stone is mainly white/cream but has faint veining in gray. The pieces of the scale appear to be brass/brass plated, while I believe the chain is gold plated/finished metal. I love the scale of this piece! When nothing is in the dishes, you can see that it's nicely balanced. You will have fun adding items to each side to keep it that way! I also appreciate that all the pieces can come apart for cleaning and storage. less
