C1943; Signed and Framed, Italian Venetian Canal Seascape and Gondolier oil painting on canvas. A 2-Point perspective, oil painting, of a young betrothed, bride, being paddled by the Gondolier, along the Venetian Canals, with the sailboat caravans in the distance, in a circa C1830s-C.1875 hand-carved Gondola, with a central, covered cabin, within of this period Gondola. One would assume, and ascertain; toward's her initial engagement and/or impending nuptials, betrothal, being whisked along the canals to arrive to her impending groom and future husband to be. Perhaps another theme, but given the period and sake of all young, females, they either had a lady in waiting, an adult female supervisor, or lastly an adventurous young privileged young lady, traveling and arriving in Venice. This particle type of covered Gondola which seized to be produced and utilized along the canals around C.1870's, are rare, some of which are housed in a Gondola Museum.
We think there was another individual within the back end of the cabin, noting this event, for historical and ceremonial purposes, along with documenting the celebratory event, with the artist, commissioned to initially draw and thus later, commissioned to do a painting, of the event, which also lends oneself to assume, that this perhaps was a seminal event for a well regarded Italian Family of prominence, for the historical lineage, within that family. but most definately in an earlier period, hence the Victorian era clothes, the symbolism in the rose laid upon the fan, the long sword along the cavern, as if protecting the virginity of the female, subliminal and symbolic references, although minute, are essential, the simple toile veil or ribbons. the Gondola itself, with Persian rugs lain out in the open, much like red carpet treatment upon arrival, also the female is holding a kerchief, and buttoned up blouse, fluttered collar, i.e virginity. We have been doing research on the artist, came across other pieces he did, and apparently said Artist was Danish, but have yet to ascertain the actual spelling of his first name, either it is an E. Krysing Hansen or Ekrysing or E. Krjsing. The canvas is stretched, and nailed to the wood stretcher frame. One would suggest, perhaps to update the frame, and showcase this lovely painting as it was meant to. Given the period of the painting, C.1943, there would not be calm waters when Europe was in the midst of World War II, essentially also why we believe the event was earlier, and the paintings production at a later date, as a memorial or gift.
