His bold, playful and highly imaginative approach resulted in a series of eye-catching chairs and stools that combined strong geometric shapes and colors with a touch of humor. In addition to influential 1980s seating such as the Cotton Club and the "smiling" Alien chairs, the Carlo collection also includes Forcolini's Ran Library self-supporting bookshelf, which was inspired by temple doors in China and Japan.
