The chairs were reupholstered sometime in their history. There appears to have been a repair to one of the backs (see last photo). It is obviously a professional repair and I suspect the area is stronger than it originally was. If you like these chairs, don't let this be a deterrent. The chairs are really well made and sturdy. One of the aprons on the side of one chair is a little lighter. Not as extreme as it looks in the photos. We added a photo of a close-up. We think it may have been from the sun or just took the stain differently. less
