Specifically, the right top end of the base had missing veneer that was replaced and repaired by our artisan staff. There is a scratch on the drawer fronts and a horizontal scratch across the right side of the faux plank side. None of this takes away from its overall original beauty. A Mid-Century Modern Treat that is Pleasantly Petite! The lower portion features a wood-toned laminate top on the buffet surface… so no worries concerning water rings! It has a left side door with a recessed half-moon cut-out pull detail with black painted inset, and a fixed wood shelf behind the door. It bears three drawers on the right, each with eye-catching chrome plated aluminum pulls & black escutcheons. The top drawer has interior dividers on the left and is lined with green felt to help keep the silver from tarnishing or maybe hold those pesky rolling items in place! Stanley Furniture was founded in Henry County, Virginia in 1924 by Thomas Bahnson Stanley who would later become the Governor of Virginia. He resigned from his position at Basset Furniture in order to start his own company where he would hire his nephew Fred A. Stanley and his brother John W. Stanley. They decided to build a company town and in achieving that plan, Stanleytown, Virginia was developed. They built over 100 homes and the employees that worked in the factory were able to rent the homes for five dollars a month. The first piece of Stanley Furniture was a dining room suite which made its debut in 1925. They suffered financial struggles with the Great Depression and would eventually be purchased by Mead Corporation until the late 1980’s when they reemerged as a new private entity. In 2012 headquarters were relocated to High Point, North Carolina. The company experienced financial ups and downs through the years until 2017 when they were sold to Churchill Downs. Then, mid-2021 Stanley Asset Holding Ltd took over Stanley Furniture brands and they venture today into their second century of high-quality furniture craftsmanship.
This is a high quality, versatile, & simply exquisite vintage piece by Stanley Furniture… So, whether you call it a China hutch, a display cabinet, a bookcase, or a dry bar… you absolutely MUST call it YOURS!!!
