Very elegantly proportioned and carved, these solid, sturdy benches are masterfully constructed with tight mortise and tenon joints. Acquired in Beijing in the 1970s by a US consulate officer, these benches are estimated to have been made between the Late 19th Century to Early 20th Century. They are marked on the bottom with an official red wax Jian Ding seal by the Beijing Cultural Relics Bureau indicating export approval. They measure approximately 31” wide, 6.5” deep and 19” tall and are in excellent, well maintained condition with some imperfections. Pairs are rarely available and these benches are perfect on opposing walls of a foyer or hall or at the end of a bed. See less
