Hans Jurgen Sordes, German, 1938 to 2002, oil painting on board depicting a double portrait, 1973. Signed and dated, on the backside. Framed. Hans Jurgen Sordes was born in Goslar in 1938, from 1957 to 1962 he studied at Basie and Geneva painting, sculpture and art history. He came to Hamburg in 1965 In 1973 he had his first big one man show and his pictures. There are many stylistic associations the flow of lines of Art Nouveau and the strength of the almost Cubistic picture arrangements. The variety of accents, avoiding loud colors, also belongs to his art, which combines the soft melancholy with the everlasting yearning of human beings for beauty and harmony.
