Planner Group designs were outwardly simple with plenty of complexity hidden in the details. The top features double-beveled edges around the perimeter. The tapered legs, threaded at the top, screw directly into the slant-cut braces on the underside of the table, giving them their characteristic splay. A wood screw traverses the brace to lock each leg in place.

A minimalist and timeless design that still works in modern homes today. less

Some areas of the main surface remain darker than they would have been at the time of manufacture, likely a result of prolonged and direct exposure to moisture. Planner Group furniture was labeled with a single sticker, which was often lost to history. The materials used and the configuration of the legs and braces, down to the screw positioning, dispositively indicate Paul McCobb’s Planner Group. less
