A rare set of Model 85 dining chairs in rosewood, designed by Niels Moller for JL Mollers Mobelfabrik in 1981. Moller had a way of designing chairs that look as if they were injection molded rather than assembled piece by piece.
The backs feature impossibly smooth curves, bending like an exoskeleton to meet the curvature of your body as you sink into the chair. The joinery between the rear legs and slats is precise to the extent that no visible gap is perceptible at even a slight distance. The absence of stretcher bars between the legs enhances the minimalist aesthetic.
Sets of this size in rosewood, in this condition, are extraordinarily difficult to find, and with good reason. The rosewood grain patterns add a touch of supernatural beauty to an already perfect chair. less
