Sweet petite basket in traditional red lacquer highly carved and decorated in gilt gold leaf. The handle swivels back and forth and the lid is half split ie half removable (see photo) and half fixed. The front has a metal closure, the loop and toggle missing. However, it is a fine example of late 19th Century Chinese artistry.
