A 2010 studio pottery planter by the American artist Barry Unitas Barnes. The earthenware planter stands 10 inches tall and has been carved with abstract designs in relief and under-glazed in shades of orange and green. The artist's chop mark and date is near the bottom edge.
Barry Unitas Barnes received his BFA in Ceramics from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1990 and his MFA in Ceramics from Arizona State University in 1994. Today, he is an Assistant Professor of Art at Franklin College, and teaches Ceramics, 3D Foundations, and Art History. Previously, he has taught art at the University of Indianapolis, Arizona State University, the Indianapolis Art Center, and his own private studio in Beech Grove, Indiana.
