That sort of high quality, old growth wood is hard to find. The elegance of the wood is matched by the elegance of the clean lines and dainty French bracket feet that slightly curve back inward.

Built in the early 1800s, this chest was designed in the Neoclassical style of the period with its flowing skirt, scratch molding, and French bracket feet. The expensive, figured mahogany, white pine secondary wood, and inwardly curved foot all indicate this chest was made in a New England city. It is signed J. Anderson on the back, but it is challenging to trace who that may be as it could have been the maker or the original owner who commissioned the piece.

With original handles, an old surface, and no major replaced parts, this chest is in great condition. As you can see, there is an old scorch mark on the top of the chest, which adds to its depth of character in our opinion. It will add charm and beauty to any space! less
