Cyanotype is a process developed in the 1840's and was used to produce architectural plans - hence the name blueprint. This is a genuine handprinted cyanotype not a printed fabric in the style of cyanotype.
The print depicts details taken from nineteenth century ceramics.
The most recognizable is the lovebirds motif from taken from the Willow Pattern which was developed in England in the 1700's. Various other designs depict flowers, forests, cloud formations, Dutch workers and Japanese cranes. This would be a perfect gift for a blue and white enthusiast or as a design detail in a 'blue specific' environment. Knife edge finish. Front and back are the same print.
